Hello! Sending another update!! The kittens are both doing very well. I am still trying to get a picture with the three of them together but whenever I get up to get the camera they all jump up to follow me! Skippy now LOVES Guinness. Ace does his own thing when he isn't playing with Skippy. Ace has turned out to be the trouble maker of the two :-) Skippy is super laid back and loves to just fall over in the middle of the floor waiting for you to give him attention. He is the one that will jump up on the couch or bed and curl up with you for hours. It took me a while to figure out why Ace was putting on a little more weight than he should be when I was feeding them the same amount-but I had to start feeding them separately because Ace was being a little piggish and inhaling his food just so he could push Skippy out of the way and eat his too. They loved watching the snow fall Christmas weekend. They sat in their cat tree staring out the window. I am attaching a few pictures of them. Skippy is getting darker! :-)
Oh, and Ace got a booboo on his nose when they were rough housing one day. I was hoping the hair would grow back but it looks like there will be a scar...
Jessica,
I know it's been a long time, but I just ran across this e-mail and thought I'd send in a picture. We renamed our cat Bagheera (from Disney's Jungle Book). She's a sweetie! As you can see ? she loves to be in the middle of whatever anyone's doing. Bagheera joined our other cat, Miss Priss, and is thriving well. Since then we've adopted a dog and another cat. All 4 get along great ? lots of playing and loving in our home.
Hi Mikki and Betsy,
Just wanted to send a quick note to let you know that Baylee is fitting into our family very nice. She is making herself right at home. We love having her here and the boys play with her all the time (I don't know who gets worn out first). She is very well mannered and is really good with potty training (very few accidents). Thank you Mikki for doing such a great job with her. I guess you could say, yes we would love to keep her.
Thank you for giving us this opportunity to have such a wonderful dog!!!
Rob and Kelly
My husband and I adopted Bear right before Christmas this year. He's been an absolute joy to have around. As you can see, he loves our small daughter. He's already quite protective of her! Thank you so much for rescuing him and the countless others. We give you two paws and thumbs up! :)
I want to thank 2 Paws Up so much for rescuing my little Bella Bear! They rescued her at about 5 weeks old! She was going to be put to sleep at the shelter if it wasn't for 2 Paws Up.
I adopted Bella (who was a tiny black bear) from Betsy when she was so small that she couldn't even climb up the curb outside b/c she was so tiny Bella has become my "child" I have never had a dog before, and 2 Paws Up was amazing with teaching me everything I needed and needed to do to prepare for having a dog!
I truly couldn't have done it without them! Bella still gets to see Betsy who we adopted her from every single day as we live across the street from each other, and Bella LOVES her aunt Betsy.
Thank you 2 Paws up for my best friend! I couldn't imagine my life with out my Bella Bear!!
He's doing great. He was a little shy at first and hid under the sofa for a few hours but she has been out exploring since and showing off his personality, especially once he discovered the food. He's a little annoyed with us this morning because he needed his claws clipped and he didn't think that was much fun but he seems to have forgiven us and is taking a nap nearby. Our other two cats seem to have accepted him fine thus far. They are still being cautious and occasionally a little hissing goes on but nothing serious.
I think he is going to fit in just fine and be a great addition to the family. I've attached a couple of pictures. In one my girlfriend is holding him and in another he's hanging out by the window with my other cat, Auden.
We adopted Brindle (formerly Delilah) from 2pawsUp in March 2009. Can't imagine a day without her!
We adopted "Buddy" (we re-named him from Remington) about two weeks ago. He acts like he has known us all of his life. He slept with us the first night we had him. He follows me around the house like a puppy dog and wants to be in the same room that we are in. This past weekend I took him to our beach house for the first time. I put him in the cat carrier and let him ride on the front seat beside me. He meowed about 5 minutes and then stuck his paw out of the carrier. I rubbed it until he fell asleep and he did not wake up until we got there. The first 5 minutes after we arrived, he walked in every room and sniffed everything. When he was satisfied that everything was "okay", he jumped on the couch was "at home." Some of my friends came over to meet him and he showed off quite a bit by playing with balls (his favorite toy). So far, he has lost 8 balls in our house. He can almost catch the ball when I throw it to him. He loves kitty treats and will do almost anything for them. Buddy is a wonderful addition to our house!
Just wanted to update you on Duke. Well his name is Cane now. Cause I am such a Big hurricanes fan. He has been great! No accidents in the house and he is spoiled rotten now. Took him to the vet last week. Everything checked out on him. Got his heartworm meds and frontline. He is growing fast! Just wanted you to know he was doing good. Thanks again!
Update! More pictures of Cane as a grown-up puppy!
It has been a year now since we adopted the most wonderful girl! Cassie (Warble) had a very rough start -- abandoned as a baby, anemia due to an abundance of fleas and ticks, parvo, respiratory issues, a warble.... However Betsy Dunnavant and the vet at Mitchell Mill saw the potential in this sweet girl. Despite the odds, Cassie survived because of the love and care of the 2PawUp organization.
Our family was blessed to have been chosen to be her forever family. She has grown from a shy, sweet puppy with a wild side when she's not around new people to a fun, happy snuggle bunny who loves to play, nap on us and start games with us. She's now about 45 pounds at almost 15 months old. We cannot begin to tell how Cassie has changed our lives. Our other dog (Sammy-14 years) became so active and playful with her around and really seemed to enjoy the last 6 months of his life with her by his side. Our sons have learned how to include her as a part of the family and love playing with her and helping to take care of her.
Cassie's nickname around here is "Beastie" because she is so active and playful... Thank you so much to the angels at 2PawsUp for rescuing Cassie and other animals who just want a chance. We cannot imagine our lives without her!
My wife & I adopted our sweet boy Chester in March 2008. Couldn't imagine life without him. Thank you 2 paws up for the work you do to save these animals and awareness you bring to pet adoption!
Cupid, who is known as Elvis, is doing very well! He's still extremely active, too smart and too curious for his own good! No cat makes me laugh harder than this little guy does! Thank you so much for bringing him into my life! Of course, I still say he adopted me, not the other way around. You wouldn't believe how big he's gotten! He's due for his annual checkup and I expect he'll be around 11 pounds. He and his tail just seem to get longer by the minute! His Maine Coon heritage shows more and more every day! He's still a medium-haired cat, but he's got the fuzzy feet, loooong tail, and wavy fur on his back legs, like a Coon, not to mention the hunting instincts! He continues to try to wrestle me to the ground by leaping at my legs as I walk by. His latest trick happens when I'm in the kitchen washing dishes... He comes running down the hallway, leaps in the air and taps the back of my legs with his front paws, lands and keeps on running. Such a funny boy! He follows me from room to room like a puppy. He is such a happy and easy-going kitty, though sometimes a bit cautious of new people. He's not a fan of other cats, but he seems to like dogs a lot!
Hi! My name is Dexter and I am a sweet (and handsome) kitty, if I do say so myself. I enjoy playing and sleeping on my cat tree as well as sprawling out on any piece of paper I can find. If you leave a laundry basket lying around, I have been known to climb inside and take a nap. I have a great time playing with my 2 doggie buddies... even though they are 10 times my size, I can hold my own. I rule the house! I am a very happy cat and I will always be grateful to 2PawsUp for rescuing me and my siblings from a life on the streets. :-)
Sandra and I wanted to pass along a big Thank You to 2 Paws Up and to everyone involved in helping us to adopt Elka. She is doing very well, is getting along great with our older Akita, and is really enjoying her new home. We very much enjoy her and think she is making a great addition to our home and family. Special thanks to Linda and to John for serving as her foster parents and for welcoming us to their home to see and to adopt Elka. All should know that your adoption process works very well and Elka will live out her life in a loving home where she will get lots of attention and have lots of adventures.
Here are a couple pictures of Elka enjoying Christmas ... she got lots of presents :-)
All the best!
Michael and Sandra Rimmey
The girls are doing great and just love my Christmas Tree. It is too thick for them to climb into it but they love playing with the ornaments and just laying under it.
Elliott is great. He's a good looking dog and we got a 2nd rescue dog named Sammy at the same time as getting Elliott and they are best friends.
Elliott sleeps under our bed every night and won't let my wife out of his sight.
He's 55 lbs and looks just like a golden retriever except of course he's solid black.
We adopted Emily cat from 2 Paws Up last October... she is a wonderful cat and it was easy to work with this rescue... they did their due diligence making sure we were going to give Emily cat a good home and her foster mom was terrific. Thank you and I recommend your group for others wanting to keep a great pet from a shelter... if you can't adopt right now, consider a donation. Thank you!
Franklin is hilarious!!! He drinks out of the toilet; picks things up and carries them around the house like a dog; and makes a really strange warbling noise, only occasionally meows.
We wanted to let everyone know at 2paws up that since we adopted George he's made himself quite at home. We're glad to have him and I think he's glad to have our bed!
We want to share an update regarding a female Siamese/Tabby mix we adopted (in late February) from one of your foster situations. Our beloved 17 year old blind cat Comet had died just before Christmas and we thought it would be a long time before we would share our home with an animal companion again. However, I came across Gobble's story the very same day that my husband learned of a rescued cat living in another foster situation. Fate? Perhaps! Choose - we couldn't - so now we have two.
We christened the sweet little girl as Cosette - our son is a serious student of French and the story of the orphan girl Cosette in Victor Hugo's Les Miserables echoed little Gobble's own life. Coincidentally, Cosette means "cute" in French and it is an apt description. She is endearing and charming, and holds a special place in our hearts.
Cosette was welcomed into our family by the rescued cat, a sleek smoky tuxedo fellow named Panzer, who had come to live with us just one week before her arrival. He is a little older and they have bonded beautifully.
I am attaching photos of the two of them resting after busy afternoons chasing and playing together.
Thank you for your good work.
The Terry family
Hi Megan and Betsy -
Just wanted to let you know that Goldie is doing great - we love her and she is really settling in. She's been wonderful with all of the kids and guests we've had and is quite a cuddler! She's had fun at the dog park lately and we're working with a trainer to try to make her more relaxed around smaller dogs.
I've attached 2 recent pictures for you. Thank you so much for bringing her into our lives!
All the best
Katherine
We adopted our sweet boy, Guster ("Mickey"), from 2PawsUp in October. He is a wonderful dog and came to us well socialized and healthy. Thanks 2PawsUp!
Jese is doing fine. He and my other tripod Laila get along very well. They love playing together and both of them sleep on the bed with me at night. They like to run around the back yard chasing squirrels. Jese acts like he still has all four legs. I take Jese and Laila over to the dog park on Lake Wheeler road once or twice a week. Jese loves running around with the big dogs. And when he is not running around he is either lying down next to Laila or he is sitting up on the picnic table 'looking over his domain'. People are always amazed how well he runs around when they realize he only has three legs.
Jese turns 4 on October 16th and Laila turns 4 on October 13th.
I have included some pics of Jese.
Bob, Laila and Jese
Just wanted to tell you again how much we are enjoying the kitten we adopted from you. He has grown so much, and at 8 months old is already way larger than our 4 yr old orange tabby. Joey, (formerly Igloo), has become fast friends with our dog Ellie, and is just such a laid back and friendly little fellow. Of course, he is still very playful, as kittens will be, and has earned himself the nickname "The Instigator" for starting trouble with the other cat and also the dog. Quite the little stinker, sometimes! Lol. He has turned out to be a magnificent addition to our family. We couldn't love him any more than we already do, and are very thankful for such a successful adoption! :0)
I wanted to thank you all for uniting me with my sweet baby boy! I adopted Kinsey (previously Wilson) two weeks ago and couldn't be happier!
Layla is doing Very well! I would say she is Thriving...she and my Dad have really bonded and it is a Beautiful thing to witness! She has overcome some of her shyness and is a Very Loving girl - She has also bonded with me and she has taken a shine to my husband...Sampson sometimes is a little jealous, but we are trying to make sure if one of is loving on her, then the other is loving on him.
With one male feline in the house, we're not going to push it. Sampson is still a little ambivalent; he's not "mean" to her, but there is definitely some "stealthy" chasing going on; she still has claws so when she gets tired of his theatrics, she definitely puts him in his place! Her allergies have been under control; she had a spell last spring, but our vet is AWESOME and took very good care of her and filled us in on the signs to look for...fur ruffled up away from the body to release heat when they are carrying a temp; and you can see in her eyes when she is not feeling well.
I want you to know we respect and admire what you folks are doing at 2PawsUp and we have been bandying your name about...I will try to get some pics posted; she really hasn't grown much larger than she was...she is a very "petite" little girl and very feminine. I would not have chosen the name "Layla", but oddly enough, it suits her nature.
I really wanted to pass along my words of thanks to everyone involved in my recent experience and concurrent adoption with the 2pawsup organization. About 2 weeks ago, I was lucky enough to meet and adopt Lady (who is now known as Lexi). When I first met her, she was super timid and unsure about accepting a new human. However, it didn't take any time at all for her to begin making amazing progress. When we arrived home, she (after a bit of careful observation from one of her "safe spots") warmed up in a dramatic way! Within 24 hours, she was exploring, playing and snuggling up against me at every available moment.
My family has fallen in love with her and my neighbors are always wanting to stop and get to know this little fire ball! She now wakes me up every morning by challenging me to a wrestling match and running excitedly around. (You know she's ready when her tail starts thumping!) She has an amazing capacity for love and is sweet in every way! She follows me around constantly and wants to know everything I am doing. We love our walks and snuggle time and though I know it seems silly, her improvement is a HUGE deal for both she and myself. I'm so excited about our future together.
Thank you SO much to 2PawsUp and her awesome foster family for taking good care of her. I love her to pieces and can NOT imagine my life without her anymore.
Leslie
We adopted the most adorable kitten, Lily, from 2PawsUp. What a great cause and people who who care so much about animals. Thank you.
Loco Lola is our beagle mix that we adopted from 2 Paws Up 15 months ago after fostering her brother Bailey. She is a firecracker with a HUGE heart and we couldn't imagine life without her.
She's full of hours of entertainment and limitless energy that lights up every room! I'm thankful that we fostered with 2 Paws Up, otherwise we may have never found her. Thanks 2 Paws Up!
Hi! I wanted to share our "happy tail" about our new family member - Macey. We met Macey at AniMall, where she was hanging out with a 2PawsUp team member. She looked at us with her pretty eyes and wagged her tail and that was it for us!
We wrote the 2PawsUp team and asked for more information. Over the course of the next two weeks we had three play dates with Macey and our current rescued dog, Oreo. They loved each other! We've had her for two weeks now and it's like she's been with us forever.
Macey was rescued by 2PawsUp from a shelter where she was surrendered by her owners when she was days away from giving birth to a litter of pups. Her foster mom Angela took her in, took care of her and her pups, and gave her a great home for several months. Little Macey's had a long life in her 2 1/2 years - in addition to her litter she's also a breast cancer survivor.
We had a great experience with 2PawsUp and are thrilled that Macey is now a part of our life. It is indeed a "happy tail!"
I wanted to shoot you a quick update on Max - we adopted him from you last April. He's doing awesome and loves his "brudder," Elliott. He's due for his 1 year rabies vaccination so I'm sure he isn't looking forward to that but we want to make sure he's taken care of. We're still working on not scratching furniture but he's been a lot better lately. Since clearly declawing isn't an option for us, we're doing the best we can with a spray bottle and regular nail clippings. We moved to Alabama and he's dying to play outside on our screened-in veranda but with the 106 degree temps down here, I don't think he'll ever get his way!
She is wonderful! She has gotten big (about 65lbs) and we have spoiled her rotten. She's a big baby and thinks she's a lap dog and sleeps with Ian every night. She loves attention and will just look at you with those big brown eyes til she gets it. She's great with my 2 year old grandson, who adores her. I just had a couple of photos of her here at work and have attached one (she's in her favorite daytime relaxing place when we are all home).
It's been about six months since we adopted Molly, a tiger-striped tabby. Molly is intelligent and is the perfect mix of feisty and cuddly. She wakes us up in the morning with kisses (after having used my neck as a pillow). She taught herself fetch, and also loves to play chase-the-red-light, and sits in her guard tower next to the window to protect us from any birds that might try to enter the house. She's also our official bug-killer....and eater. Molly meets us at the door when we come home from work and she's always up for a hug and a cuddle after a long day. She's the most loving and loyal cat we could have ever imagined, and we are thankful every day that she came into our lives. Thank you for taking such good care of her until she came to us!
I wanted to thank you for bring Murphy (buddy) into my Life. He is a wonderful addition to our family. I really couldn't ask for a better dog. He gets along so well with the other pets, Ellie cat, Cooper boxer, stone sable collie, Izzy terrier. He's great with my grandkids (18 months old, 4 years old, 11 yrs old) & my children. He greets everyone with those big brown eyes.
Thank you again, Sharon
We adopted Oakley (known to 2pawsup as Marley) at the end of June after he and his 5 sisters had been rescued from a shelter by their foster mom Kim. He's pretty shy around other dogs but warms up after a while. He loves chasing tennis balls and frisbees in the backyard! His favorite toy is the cat...although she's not too thrilled about it. Whenever he looks at you with his big brown eyes you can't help but melt (he's learned how to use that skill when he gets in trouble).
He's quickly become part of the family and we're so thrilled 2pawsup gave us the opportunity to adopt him! We'd love to hear how his sisters are doing!
Racheal says hi and don't worry, "I'm teaching my new mommy not to do silly things like leave magazines in the magazine rack" and teaching my new brother what we can do when mommie's not home. Thanks for uniting Racheal with our family, seems like she was born for it. :)
Lacy "Rae" is doing great! Thanks 2PawsUp. This is a picture of Lacy, all grown-up, at one of her favorite places, You Lucky Dog daycare.
Just wanted to sent you a few pics of Rocket, he is doing well and has settled right in! He's been to work a few times (once for a bath and nail trim) and has done very well. He sleeps with us every night and loves to play with my daughter. He eats like a pig and should gain some weight soon!
My family and I spent several months looking for the perfect dog. We knew we wanted a Boxer, so that clearly limited our search. We saw a number of beautiful dogs, but none of them were properly trained. We looked into some Boxer rescues and numerous Craigslist advertisements but in each case, the dogs were lacking in social development and/or basic behavioral training. When I filled out my application for 2PawsUp, I was honestly a bit skeptical because of my lack of success up to that point. They were the only group to check my previous pets' veterinary history and ensure I was aware of common health problems associated with dogs who don't get regular check-ups.
When I got to meet Roxy, I couldn't believe how wonderfully behaved she was. She was very excited and curious. We loved her immediately. We've had her for a couple weeks now and couldn't be happier. 2PawsUp made sure Roxy was happy and healthy. They made sure my family was the right fit for her needs and that she was the right fit for ours. I could not be happier. She is the perfect addition to our already happy home.
Jon, Stacey, Maddy and Sunny.
I wanted to give yall an update on my new baby, the newly named Talia. She is doing WONDERFUL and I am so incredibly happy. She now pees when we go outside and is mostly comfortable on her leash. She lopes around on her awkward long legs and steals my socks and slippers.
Thank you both. I will keep you updated if you like as time passes. :)
Kai, now Teddy, adopted Summer 2010
Just an update on Tiger and Pennie along with some photos. They are getting along great so far. They play together a lot and have been found on occasion grooming each other.
Thank you and 2PawsUp for everything!
I wanted to thank you for the wonderful job you did with Dixie (Tigerlilly). She is such a sweet little cat. She adjusted almost instantly to our apartment. She got a catnip toy today and has been playing with it all day, and thankfully has been scratching her scratching post instead of the furniture! We have decided to rename her Tigerlilly, hope thats ok with you, we are big Disney fans. She is such a joy to come home to everyday. She purrs like an engine all the time. Her favorite place to sleep is the box spring! She has a vet appointment next week, will let you know how it goes. I will also be sending you some pictures when I take more of her. Again thanks for saving her life, if you didn't we wouldn't have this awesome new member of our family.
Sincerely,
Emily and Alex
Just wanted to send you a couple pictures of Toby a/k/a Sam with an update. He's settled in quite well with our family and with our other dog Maggie. He's very sweet and we love his energy and puppyness. He's a bit of a houdini and will find any way out of our back yard and is a runner. He's hard to catch and so fast. He thinks it's all a game but eventually comes back. He's gotten out 3 times and just loves to frolic in the woods behind our backyard and chase squirrels, bunnies, foxes, etc. He's so cute to watch. We are getting an Invisible Fence installed since he now has figured out how to climb over the fence. I'm worried he might get in the road or cause an accident. He sure is a tenacious terrier.
We walk him and Maggie at least 2 miles every day and he just loves to cuddle with us and is such a happy dog. The dogs just love their walks! He sleeps with either my son or my husband and I depending on who brings him to bed first. They eat their meals side by side with no problems which really is a big deal since my older dog Maggie has always been food aggressive. With techniques I saw on the Dog Whisperer, I now make both sit and stay for their meals and now got them on a good twice a day feeding schedule. He's got a great personality and is friendly to everybody. Although he has learned to walk well on a leash, I've signed him up for a dog obedience class through the rec center starting next week. I think it'll be fun and good for him to socialize with other dogs and a good way for me to meet new people too. Should be fun. He's already learned to sit, stay, lay down and come.
This is Tucker!! We adopted him from you in March. We absolutely love this guy!! His big brother Stretch loves him too! Actually, we changed his name. He was Thing 2 when we adopted him. Tucker fits him pretty good.
Just wanted to give you an update on Zeke (Baby)! He is doing wonderfully, and is such a little pleasure to have in our family!! He has adjusted beautifully, and we are seeing his real personality now ? what a hambone! He plays chase with his big cat brother Danny all day, still loves his toys (especially his laser pointer!), eats well, and has already let me cut his nails twice. He is indeed a lap cat, and will look for a lap as soon as he wants to take a rest from all of the play. Zeke sleeps with my son Danny every night (which is a thrill for him, since none of our other cats really liked to sleep in a bed), and we all get a kick out of how he gallops everywhere!
My mother bought him a "welcome to the family toy", which was a long ribbon with feathers on it, and a plastic handle so you can wave the ribbon at the cat. In all, it was probably about 5 feet long. For a solid week, Zeke dragged all 5 feet of it everywhere he went, moved it up the stairs and onto the bed at night, and slept on top of it! It had us in stitches it was so funny, and he gave us this look like ?you gave it to me, didn't you?? ? so adorable.
Anyway, here are some recent pics of him. He likes to crash on top of our couch during the day, and his place is a sunny window with a nice view of the tulips. He also spends a lot of time tracking birds and such from the screen porch, and plays with Danny in the dining room, where there is plenty of room to slide around.
Enjoy, and thank you again for this beautiful little guy!
Zeuss was from a litter of 4 kittens found in a stray cat colony in Clayton. 2 Paws up rescued the litter and nursed them back to health. When I saw Zeuss I fell in love immediately. His littermates Zac, Zeke, and Zoey got adopted into loving homes as well. Zeuss is the life of the party, always entertaining. And boy is he a fluffball! Usually he can be found napping flat on his back with his paw on his belly. Needless to say he has made himself at home!
